Kumar’s main photo interests are travel, fine art and portraiture. She aims to bring beauty, story and emotion to viewers while evoking memory, mind and spirit. Her photography training began at age 14 when her mother showed her how to use a fully manual 35-millimeter Minolta x700. Since then, photography became a passion and in 2010 she started her own business.
In July 2013, Kumar’s work won Best in Show at the Alfa Art Gallery and an Award of Excellence at the Johnson & Johnson Corporate Gallery in April 2013. A series of photographs she took in India were featured at the Center for Spiritual Living in Morristown as a solo show in 2011. Her work was chosen for display at Overlook Hospital’s Cancer Center as part of their “Healing Arts and Global Therapy” program in 2012. She continues to share her art at solo and group exhibits throughout New Jersey. For more information, visit ParvathiKumar.com.
