Dr. Gale Spak
Gale Spak, associate vice president of Continuing and Distance Education at NJIT, will serve on a panel of industry and university representatives at the 19th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education: “Preparing the Global Workforce,” to be held Nov. 3 in Newport, R.I.
Dr. Spak will present her abstract, “Using a Dual Education Model to Educate the Next Leaders in Manufacturing,” and join her fellow roundtable participants in discussing the rationale for expanding local corporate-academic partnerships globally to educate the 21st-century workforce. Panel participants also will share their own experiences with corporate-academic collaborations.
The colloquium’s invitation to Dr. Spak stemmed from both NJIT’s stewardship of New Jersey State’s Advanced Manufacturing Talent Network (ManufactureNJ) since 2011, as well as the university’s partnerships with New Jersey-based manufacturers to help meet the demand for talent in the manufacturing industry. MECHAForce, a statewide program run by NJIT to prepare New Jerseyans for manufacturing registered internships, was recently honored with an inaugural Public-Private Partnership Award from NJBIZ for these efforts.
